FIFA Women's World Cup

Two games that were almost identical. Both losing teams controlled possession and got a lot more shots on goal but the winning team converted almost all of their good scoring chances. France outplayed the US for most of the match but the US finished when they had true scoring opportunities.

I love Carli Morgan, but she was TERRIBLE today. When she went out, the US team became that much better. Bringing Reinoe in and shifting Cheney to the middle were genius moves and gave the US the best chance to win. Solo was pretty outstanding again today, one mistake but it didnt cost a goal on the play she hesitated. I thought the US struggled mightily to keep possession and limit France's chances, but I don't believe Japan is as quick or as swift as France in the middle, especially since France runs 5 midfielders out at you.

A US team, full of girls who may become superstars (Alex Morgan, Solo, Wombach), takes on a surprise Asian team in the World Cup final? Maybe we get to party like its 1999 again

Could have literally had 5 goals in the first 11 minutes but go into the half 0-0. They need to finish when they get shots on goal. They're playing very well though.

Abby Wombach has the best head in the world :)

Wow. Completely choked, choked, choked....really no other way around it. Had the game in the bag at least twice, then absolutely implode during the penalty kicks.

Terrible for the USA
Wonderful for a still grieving nation in Japan and wonderful for the sport to have a team like Japan win it

I wish I could be as good a person as ID, but I cant. F*** Japan haha. We gave it away. Theres no two ways around it. We played the worst game of the tournament and let the Japanese team tie it TWICE late on lax defensive plays. Hope Solo, the best GK in the world as everyone keeps telling us, played like complete dogshit. She gave at least one of the goals to Japan and totally choked in PKs. While its very hard for the GK to stop PKs, she didnt do jack.

but the biggest chokers are the midfielders and PKers. Wombach made hers, but the rest flat out choked. Box, Carli Morgan (who SUCKED this tourney. she was easily the worst US player on the field most of the time. she wears #10 for fuck's sake, she shouldnt play her worst game on the biggest stage), etc.. all blew it. They gave away the WORLD FUCKING CUP. UGGHHH i was so furious.

Couple bright spots, ALEX MORGAN!! She is not only the hottest athlete on the planet, shes a great soccer player and a dynamic striker. She scored two beautiful goals in the two most important games, its a shame her teammates had to let her down.

Japan simply isnt a great team, we should have been up at least 2-0 at the half like Lung said, but we just refused to actually put the ball in the net. Just a horrible all around performance.

I had a guy I work with today say they were all dogs. He said Morgan looked OK because she was standing around a bunch of 3's.
